Once Upon a Time:
You could find a job anywhere. You just had to demonstrate a willingness to work and you had a job.
Once Upon a Time:
You could by a house, raise your family there and leave it to your descendants.
Once Upon a Time:
Once you had a job, you had it for life. Until you retired.
Once Upon a Time:
After working for certain jobs city, state, government, or private industry, you were guaranteed a pension.
Once Upon a Time:
You were guaranteed certain benefits which came with the job.
Once Upon a Time:
You had retiree benefits.
Once Upon a Time:
Your salary was sufficient to support yourself and or your family.
Once Upon a Time:
You guaranteed social security when you retired.
Once Upon a Time:
Seniority on your job was respected.
Once Upon a Time:
Twenty bucks bought a bag full of groceries or a tank full of gas.
Once Upon a Time:
Having a house was an essential part of the American Dream.
These are just a few things that have gone by the wayside during the past few years. Sad to say, they are gone forever and are not ever going to come back. Why? Because nothing man does is forever. Everything man does without God, deteriorates and degenerates until nothing is left.
The reason these things had lasted so long was the fact that America used to be a Christian nation, which worshiped and respected God. And like the Nation of Israel in the Old Testament of the Bible, when they worshiped and declared and trusted, God as their one and only God. God blessed them and prospered them. When the Israelites forgot The Most High God, He sent waring nations to subdue them, take them captive and strip them of everything they had. Even to the point of making them SLAVES!
In America's case God didn't send waring nations among us, but many have crept in with different religions which dispute the very existence of God. Had we been vigilant, they wouldn't be here, taking our great nation apart at the seams.
With so much uncertainty in life, and much more to come, who does one turn to? Your government? Certainly not! As you can see, they have no clue what to do themselves! When man refuses to acknowledge the existence of God, and turn to Him for His divine direction, man becomes nothing more than a puppy chasing his tail! Round and round, round and round he goes. Where he stops, no one knows. PROOF that man has no direction at all, without God!
Seemingly the very traps he seeks to avoid, spring right up to ensnare him! That is why God sent His Son, Jesus Christ. God saw man hopeless and helpless in sin, and prepared an incorruptable means of rescue.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son That WHOSOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Just in case, that word "whosoever" applies to you too! Don't discount yourself because of your particular circumstances. Christ died for EACH & EVERY SIN! That means you have no excuse to hold you back unless you just flat out refuse. In that case, God will not force you to make the decision if you don't want to. He will not violate the free volition He has blessed you with, even though you may use it to make the wrong choice.
But, why refuse a free offer that you will have for ETERNITY? Chose wisely, my friend. Chose wisely.
