To Curse or Not to Curse
I'm writing this particular blog entry due to the number of disturbing encounters I've recently had with people who insist on cursing the Jews and or the Nation of Israel.
When I was a brand, spanking new babe in Christ, my Pastor used to teach repeatedly to “Never Curse The Jews.” Why? Because they are God's People!
The Bible clearly tells us that God personally selected the Israelites from the many nations around them, to be exclusively HIS. He brought them out of Egypt, through the Red Sea and led them to the Promised Land. Leading them every step of the way as a shepherd leads his sheep.
Why did God do this? Because God wanted a holy nation of people on Earth that He could manifest Himself to and through. Why? So that other nations who worshiped all kinds of false gods and images, might know He was the One And True God!
Deuteronomy 28:9-10 (King James Version )
9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he had sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in His ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD and they will be afraid of thee.
God selected a nation of people to be His Wife! The nation of Israel may have been rebellious in the past, and suffered severe chastisement because of it. Being sinful man, they are yet rebellious now, however, God has never “put her away from Himself”. That means, He has never given her a divorce! He has turned away, like He did during the 400 years of slavery Israel suffered under Pharaoh. But even during those years, He heard the cries of His people, because He sent Moses to deliver them.
For God says in His word:
Deuteronomy 4:24 ( King James Version )
24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
Jealous? God? Why? Because God's righteousness did not ( back then ) and will not ( now ) tolerate Israel worshiping another god(s) like the heathen nations surrounding them. Deuteronomy is full of warnings to the Nation of Israel if they quit worshiping Him for gods of stone, wood, etc. God promised He would curse them with same kinds of diseases and calamities the Gentile nations suffered. He also promised that they would be attacked by heathen nations who would kill, sack, loot and destroy them. All because they refused to remember Him.
I want to make myself perfectly clear here. God said HE will curse Israel, not man. God personally warned Abram: “I will curse those who curse you ( meaning Israel ) and I will bless those who bless you ( meaning Israel ).” When Balak the king of Moab hired Balaam to curse Israel, he attempted to do it four times but was unsuccessful! Even to the point of Balaam's ass (donkey) seeing the angel God had sent to cut him down, and warning him VERBALLY!!
You may think all of this is old fashioned and does not stand today, but it does! God's word says: “I am God and I changeth not.” So, guess who must change. . . . . .
That means God's warning about Israel most certainly stands today! And if it stands, one is treading on very dangerous ground when one curses the Jews and or The Nation of Israel. Why? They are God's Wife!
Just think of your spouse and how you would feel if someone said, or did horrible things to them. What would you do? You would come to their rescue and defense! I'm not saying this to lower God down to our puny level. But, God who is pure righteousness must vindicate the vow He made to His people! He will come to their aid!
That is why I refuse to tolerate people who are Anti Semites! It is even more shameful when I encounter such people who openly claim they are “Christians”! You cannot possibly be born again, Holy Spirit filled and taught, and say those things or allow those thoughts to fill your mind and heart. The Holy Spirit would convict you too heavily, you would have too much respect and awe before God to say such things! Instead of cursing the Jews and/or Israel, you would PRAY for their protection, love them, and according to God's leading, evangelize them, because they need salvation too!
If you do curse them, I am mighty afraid you are were NEVER SAVED! You need to repent and receive Christ right now!
I am certain of one thing. Were it not for the Jews rejecting Christ, we would not have had a chance at salvation. God loved the Nation of Israel so much, He sent Jesus to them FIRST. They rejected Him, so He went to the Gentiles ( which are us ). So, to curse the Jews/Israelites would be a slap in the face to Christ!
Also, by the way, Jesus was Jewish. In case you didn't know that, please read the genealogy of Christ in Matthew 1:1-17. He was a direct descendant of King David.
Last but not least, the following statement is my one of my personal convictions. I will not support any candidate ( or supporters ) or incumbent politician(s) who have an Anti Semitic viewpoint. Nor will I fellowship with an Anti-Semite. I love them with the love of God, I will pray for them, but I will not supp with them. After reading this, I pray you will see why and do the same.
