Greetings Everyone!
As you can see, I am starting out with a bang! A hot button subject if you want to call it that. But, I must address it.
Christmas. What is it all about? Is it only for big retail outlets to have big sales and bombard us with adds to buy, buy, buy. So they can sell, sell, sell and make their profits for the quarter?
Is it for you to send your last dollar running around and buy things the people not only do not need, but don't want, or appreciate? Is it for you to over eat, over drink, imbibe and act a fool at the office holiday party or celebration ( notice they don't call it CHRISTmas party anymore )? No, fortunately, Christmas is not any of those above listed things. It is about CHRIST!
I am not a bible historian or archaeologist so I don't know exactly when Jesus was born, but I do know that He was not born on specifically on Christmas day. Bible scholars can only pin it down to a season, where it wasn't too cold for the shepherds to be sleeping out in the field at night with their flocks.
But not a specific day? God did that because He knew if man found out the specific day, he would most certainly worship the day and not who was BORN ON THAT DAY. Isn't that what happened?

The bible also lays out the specific events of Jesus' birth in Matthew 1:18 – 25, Matthew 2:1- 23. For what purpose was Jesus Christ born? Ever hear the saying “Oh he or she thinks they are God's gift to man!”. Well, God's Gift to Mankind was non other than Jesus Christ! A gift? Why? Because mankind was in sore and desperate need of being redeemed from the wages of sin!
The bible says in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord!!”
So God gave of Himself: John 1:1 The Word wrapped itself up in flesh and came down to live among His creation and die for them. So they would have a chance to escape the wages of sin which is death. Not just physical death, but spiritual death which is ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM GOD!
If you are reading this, that's how much God loves you. He willingly stepped down from His throne and came to Earth in the form of a babe, in order that you might be salvaged from a fate worse than death! ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM GOD!
I pray you use the gift of personal choice God gave you to decide that you are indeed a sinner and you need a substitute to die in your place. Jesus has already taken that fall, so you don't have to. But, if you decide not to, God will not force you, because He wants man to WILLINGLY COME TO HIM AND LOVE HIM!
Though you may turn your back on Him, He still loves you and will continue to call you. Yes, as long as you live on this Earth, He will continue to call. Won't you heed and come. There is room at the cross for more.
